Jomtien Beach is the long beach south of Pratumnak Hill, inside Pattaya City but around 3 km from Pattaya Beach. The Tourism Authority of Thailand calls it the quieter of the two. This guide covers where to stay, how to get there, which stretch to swim from, and six hotels on or near the sand.
Jomtien vs Pattaya Beach
Pattaya Beach is the bay in front of Beach Road: a road, jet skis, and the nightlife a short hop away. Jomtien is the one you actually swim from. It is longer, about 6 km, and it gets quieter as you go south. A similar room is often cheaper here than on Beach Road. The gap moves with the dates, so check the live Agoda price. The six hotels below were scored on Agoda on 12 October 2026.
Walking Street is not next door. Agoda puts it 2.89 km from Rabbit Resort at the Dongtan end, and further from the south-end hotels. The shared baht bus is ฿15 for trips up to 10 km and ฿20 beyond that, since 10 April 2026 (Pattaya Mail, 16 April 2026). A normal run from central Pattaya to Jomtien is inside 10 km, so ฿15 is the posted fare. Some drivers still ask ฿20. If you flag a parked truck for a private hop, agree the price first. That is a charter, not the shared fare.

Jomtien stretch by stretch
People sometimes talk about “Soi 5 to 12” as one middle. That is not how this beach splits. The northern sois are busier. The middle, around Soi 8–14 in our Central vs Jomtien notes, is the wide bit. The south end is the quiet one.

Rabbit Resort: beachfront at the Dongtan end
A 49-room, 4-star resort on Soi Dongtan Police Station, at the northern end of the beach nearest Pattaya. Agoda lists it as beachfront (0 m) with a garden and a pool with a view, and puts Walking Street 2.89 km away. Its 9.0 score from 2,314 reviews is the highest of the six. The buildings are two floors (last renovated 2014, per Agoda), so expect a low-rise garden layout rather than a tower.

Fifth Jomtien Pattaya: the family pick
Agoda lists this 166-room, 5-star hotel as “Fifth Pattaya Jomtien”. It sits on Jomtiensaineung Road, 120 m from the beach. Its Agoda facilities list includes water slides, a water park, a kids’ club, a kids’ pool, a playground and a hot tub. It opened in 2010 and was renovated in 2021. Breakfast is ฿360 if not included and the airport transfer is ฿1,800 (Agoda, 12 Oct 2026). Bali Hai Pier, for the Koh Larn ferry, is 3.22 km away.

Jomtien Thani Hotel: mid-range in central Jomtien
An 11-floor, 241-room, 4-star hotel 200 m from the beach. It has an outdoor pool and a fitness centre, opened in 2000 and was renovated in 2025. With 7,169 reviews at 8.5, it has one of the larger review samples on this list. Breakfast is ฿400 if not included. Walking Street is 3.25 km away (Agoda).

Marine Beach Hotel Pattaya: 10 m from the sand
A 4-floor, 35-room hotel at 131/62 Moo 12 Jomtien Beach Road, toward the south end, 5.58 km from Walking Street. It opened in 2017 and has an outdoor pool. At 8.9 from 4,608 reviews, it scores highly for a small property. Breakfast is ฿450 and the airport transfer ฿1,500 (Agoda, 12 Oct 2026). Choose it if you want to cross the road to the beach and don’t need a big resort.

Seaside Jomtien Beach: the budget pick
A 3-star, 39-room hotel at 309/47-49 Moo 12 Jomtien Beach Road, 20 m from the beach. It is five floors with an outdoor pool, opened in 2008 and was renovated in 2023 (Agoda). It scores 8.8 from 2,515 reviews. It sits near the southern part of the beach road, 6.27 km from Walking Street, so plan on a baht bus or an app ride for nights out.

Ravindra Beach Resort and Spa: resort with its own beach
A 273-room, 5-star resort at 246 Moo 4, Na Jomtien, past the southern end of Jomtien proper. Agoda lists a private beach, indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, a spa, a kids’ club and a babysitting service. Breakfast is ฿600 and the airport transfer ฿2,500. It scores 8.8 from 8,849 reviews. It’s 11.27 km from Walking Street, so it suits a stay-put resort holiday, not a nightlife trip.

Getting to Jomtien Beach
From central Pattaya
Shared baht buses (songthaews) link central Pattaya and Jomtien over Pratumnak Hill and Thappraya Road. The shared fare on regular routes has been ฿15 for trips up to 10 km and ฿20 for longer ones since 10 April 2026 (Pattaya Mail; The Pattaya News). If you ask a parked driver to take you to a specific address, that’s a private charter, so agree the price before you get in. Grab and Bolt show the fare in the app before you confirm.
From Suvarnabhumi Airport
Roong Reuang Coach runs a direct Jomtien service from Level 1, Gate 8, hourly from 06:00 to 22:00, for ฿158 (airportpattayabus.com and AOT, checked 12 Oct 2026). The 22:00 departure ends at the Pattaya bus station, not Jomtien. Fares have no child or senior discount and are non-refundable; changes cost ฿30 if made 2 days ahead. The trip takes about 2 hours. The beach changes along its length. Wikipedia lists Jomtien’s other name as Hat Dong Tan, and the northern end below Pratumnak Hill is still known as Dongtan Beach.

The 2026 sand works
The Marine Department is running a sand-nourishment and expansion project along Jomtien to fight erosion and widen the beach. A site inspection on 5 August 2026 put phase 2 at around 30–40%, still on track for completion in February 2027 (Pattaya Mail, 6 Aug 2026). Pattaya Mail reported the phase 2 contract at ฿318 million. The work moves in sections and the beach stays open. If machinery has reached your stretch, walk on to open sand rather than cutting across the work zone.
On the beach: chairs, swimming and watersports
- Chairs and umbrellas. Licensed operators rent them, often with food service. No official price list is published, so ask the total before you sit. Your own mat, chair and umbrella are allowed. In 2026 the city has targeted unlicensed businesses on the public sand (Pattaya Mail, 2026).
- Swimming. Use marked areas, stay out if a red flag is flying, and keep well away from jet skis. The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources’ sting advice: leave the water, call 1669, and pour vinegar on the sting for at least 30 seconds (cited by koh-larn-thailand.com, Aug 2026).
- Watersports. Jet skis, parasailing and banana boats operate off the busier sections. Prices are set by each operator. Agree the total and duration in writing, photograph the jet ski before you ride, and never hand over your passport as a deposit. Read Pattaya scams to avoid first.
- Emergency numbers. 1669 for medical emergencies and 1155 for the Tourist Police. 1337 is Pattaya City’s information line (Thai government PRD, Nov 2025; Pattaya Mail, Sep 2026).

- Koh Larn. The public ferry leaves from Bali Hai Pier, 3.22 km from Jomtien Thani and Fifth (Agoda). The operator listed ฿40 each way when checked on 23 Aug 2026, with the first boat to Na Ban at 07:00 and the last boat back at 18:00. Times, beaches and tours are in the Koh Larn guide.
