A guide to Pattaya, written by someone who actually lives here
Pattaya is one of the most misunderstood cities in Thailand. I started Pattaya Pointer to tell the honest version.
Most online Pattaya content is either an outdated blog post from someone who spent a long weekend there, or a booking platform so focused on the transaction it forgets to give you any useful context. Neither helps when you're planning a trip.
I'm Maia Reyes. I've been based around Southeast Asia for six years and I spend about three months a year in Pattaya. This site is my attempt to be the well-travelled friend who actually knows the city — the one who tells you to base yourself in Jomtien if you have kids, that Naklua has the best seafood, that the Sanctuary of Truth is one of the most extraordinary buildings in this part of the world. If somewhere isn't worth your time, I say so.
How I work
I pay my own way
I book and visit anonymously. No hotel knows I'm reviewing them, which is the only way to stay honest.
Affiliate, not advertising
Some links earn me a small commission when you book, at no extra cost to you. It never changes a ranking or a recommendation.
Updated, not abandoned
Prices, openings and closures change fast here. I revisit and re-date guides regularly rather than leaving stale info to mislead people.
