Khao Kheow Open Zoo

Thailand's biggest open zoo, 40 minutes north of Pattaya, and nothing like the sad concrete enclosures the word 'zoo' might conjure. Khao Kheow spreads over 2,000 acres of forested hillside where giraffes, zebras and deer wander large open ranges and you drive or take a golf cart between zones. Feed a giraffe by hand, watch the penguin parade, or come back after dark for the night safari — it runs twice nightly at 7pm and 8pm and is a genuinely different experience. Entry is around 250-330 baht for adults; the night safari is ticketed separately.
